Bloomfield has a total of 1,826 acres set aside as open space, school and park land which is used for both active and passive recreation.

In addition, the state-owned Penwood State Park, Metropolitan District Reservoir No. 6, Talcott Mountain State Park, Cold Spring Flood Water Retention Reservoir and Retarding Dam, and Wintonbury Flood Water Retention Reservoir and Retarding Dam are also located in Town and bring the total of public open space to a remarkable 20% of Bloomfield.

1.      High School: (1 Huckleberry Lane) baseball field, gym, play field, soccer field,    football field, softball fields, four tennis courts, and track

2.      Human Resources Center: (330 Park Avenue) baseball field, gym, play field, brook, soccer fields, lighted softball stadium, and 6 lighted tennis courts. Community Center, Senior Center, Youth Center, Leisure Services Department, Social Services Department

3.      Metacomet School: (School Street) basketball court, Little League fields, playground apparatus, brook, and soccer fields

4.      Arace School: (390 Park Ave) basketball court, gym, playground apparatus, passive recreation, play field, brook, soccer and softball fields

5.      Municipal Pool: (390 Park Ave) 50 meter pool, wading pool, bathhouse, picnic tables, shelter, play field, gardens/flowers, playground apparatus

6.      Samuel Wheeler Reed Park: (School Street) hiking trails, passive recreation

7.      Mary Zolan Hill Green:  (corner of Park and Blue Hills Avenues) gardens/flowers, passive recreation and memorials

8.      Robert L. Watkins Community Center: (73 Rockwell Avenue) baseball field, basketball courts, gym, Bill Lee baseball fields, playground apparatus, passive recreation, play field, four lighted tennis courts

9.      Vista Gardens:  (corner of Duncaster and Adams Roads) gardens/flowers, passive recreation

10.     Filley Park: (Tunxis Avenue) Elderly & children’s fishing pond, garden/flowers, Scott Trail, winter ice-skating area with warming shelter.  Call 243-8090 for ice skating information.

11.     Joyce Neighborhood Street Park:  (Joyce Street) hiking trails, passive recreation, picnic area, playground apparatus and a brook

12.     LaSalette Open Space: (120 Mountain Avenue) fishing, gardens/flowers, hiking trails, passive recreation, pond and Captain Oliver Filley House

13.     Pershing Park Playground:  (Allen Road) one acre, neighborhood playground with basketball court, playground apparatus, and play field

14.     Reservoir No. 2: (Blue Hills Avenue) hiking trails, passive recreation, brook, radio control model airplane flying field operated by Wintonbury Flying Club

15.     Reservoir No. 3: (Tunxis Avenue) fishing, pond, gardens/flowers, hiking trails, passive recreation, picnic area, three tennis courts, and community gardens

16.     Sinnott Farms Open Space: (Ryefield Hollow) playground apparatus, passive recreation, play field, and one tennis court

17.     Town Green: (Tunxis Avenue) gardens/flowers, passive recreation, picnic tables,   monuments and memorials

18.     M.K. Wilcox Park: (71 Hoskins Road) gardens/flowers, hiking trails, picnic area, Vista and Metacomet Blue Trail

19.     Wintonbury Playground: (Shields Drive) neighborhood playground with basketball court, playground apparatus (presently removed), play field, passive recreation and brook

20.     Woodland Manor Open Space: (Essex Lane) neighborhood playground with basketball court, playground apparatus, passive recreation, play field and brook

21.     Castlewood/Woodland: 2 tennis courts located off Woodland Avenue on Castlewood Drive

22.     Maplewood Open Space: (Mallard Drive) neighborhood playground with basketball court, playground apparatus, passive recreation, play field, brook, softball and one tennis court

23.     Farmington River Park: (Tunxis Avenue Extension) Bloomfield’s newest park acquired in November 1995 and currently being developed for hiking, picnicking, fishing and water studies.  A magnificent 78 acres on the Farmington River.

24.     Wintonbury Hills Golf Course: Terry Plains Road. 18 hole championship golf course designed by Pete Dye and managed by Billy Casper Golf.
